My daughter just graduated from college and, after almost 24 years of having her readily accessible, she's seriously pondering a move that will involve a jet plane when I need a trademark hug.
This impending change causes my eyes to tear up, my chest to ache and my very hair to hurt! I know I'll survive and probably grow, but sometimes growth (of an involuntary nature) isn't even on the bottom of our wish list!

Peggy,

So glad this was helpful to you! It's amazing to me how something so simple could have eluded me all this time; but my desk is literally littered with slips of paper with creative thoughts for blog posts that came to me when I take that 'mental health' break downstairs away from the office. Now, to just get them in some sense of order!

Hearing that this post was inspiring to one of our women absolutely makes my day! Thank you for letting us know!

Just what I've been looking for! How inspiring. My business is new and therefore requires so much administrative time, while I work 30hours/week at a job to help fund the business. And, although I used to consider myself somewhat creative, I haven't been inspired lately. One of my many goals is to start blogging, but haven't had the inspiration until now.
Thank you!!

This was a very inspiring story which I followed with you all the way, because I ws in Royal Festival Hall and Birmingham on the the Russell Watson Concert Tour and he appears to have recovered from his illness beautifully, he is the best tenor of the 20th century, its so good to hear new fans are popping up, Russell, once seen, NEVER forgotten. I've loved him from that first moment on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer staring up at him while he was singing Va Pensiero and Miserere, in the year 2000. Russell is a wonderful human being with a beautiful personality that we could only hope to emulate. You see I too LOVE Mr. Russell Watson. Thank you for your great story. I am from Florida and also saw him in New York in 2005. There is no one else I'd ever travel so far to see, but he is worth it. If I win the lottery, I will be back to the UK next year, as he is doing another concert. I do hope he feels well enough to come to the states next year. He is coming out with another new CD before the end of the year and will need to PROMOTE it! Until then, there's the internet and lots of lovely pressies on the two Russell Watson websites.

Linda,

This is remarkable and oddly coincidental (if there really is such a thing as coincidence)! Being the night owl I am, I was watching television in the wee hours of the morning over the weekend and saw a commercial that said the same thing.....nutshell of the commercial was an army of women from all over the world each chanting "I am powerful" and then they focused in on 3 or 4 individuals as they spoke those same words. The narrator then explained the untapped natural resource concept and urged viewers to log into www.care.org to do something to help. Apparently, this is a campaign to raise money to defeat poverty, especially for women in third world countries.

That aside, this commercial brought many of the same thoughts to my mind that have come to you, Linda. Women, as individuals, must band together into one united effort, sharing our talents and abilities, to become the powerhouse that we should be. While I'm not truly a feminist, I do believe that the feminine side of our world is innately stronger than the male side and without that deep inner strength working positively in our world, this world will continue to struggle.

Through the divine guidance of our Heavenly Father, the cornerstone of AWP/AWI has been placed and the building blocks are soaring upward to provide women a safe and dynamic place to begin this banding. As we grow, one individual woman at a time, the empowerment is coming to life.

Here's to growing and empowering women all over the world!

I was doing Google Blog search on 'Braveheart' and came across your blog. here is an extract from a book by Chris Brown 'WILLIAM WALLACE: The True Story of Braveheart' -

'William Wallace has attracted a great deal of attention from interested enthusiasts, but surprisingly little from historians. Of the several biographies readily available at the time of writing, not one has been written by anyone with a background in medieval history generally, let alone with any scholarly understanding of the society in which Wallace lived. The lack of an understanding of the context has led to the easy acceptance of material that is at best questionable and at worst fraudulent. This is most evident in the film 'Braveheart'. Not content with relying on Blind Harry's largely fictitutious poem 'The Wallace' as the sole source of material, the writer, Randall Wallace, simply changed the story to suit a script that made no sort of historical sense and has, in fact, deprived Scottish people of part of their history by effectively undermining the factual material. The benefit of the 'Braveheart' phenomenon is of course the extent to which it has heightened interest in medieval Scotland: an important consideration in a country where there is no viable programme of history in schools. Although 'Braveheart' did help to make Scots more aware of their past, the damage done done to our perception of Wallace and of the early period of the Wars of Independence is incalculable. If it is true that a picture paints a thousand words, how damaging is it when the picture is a fantasy?'

Comment on Tuesday Biz Tips - “All About Connections!” by Ron Sukenick

Everyone,

Thuoght I would continue to discuss the idea of connection and the value of
following up with others.

Increased Interaction Brings Increased Cooperation

How true it is when it comes to building solid relationships with others. Take a
moment and think about rolling a pair of dice. If we asked you to roll one of
the dice it would be called a die.

As you know, most die are numbered from 1 to 6 right? OK, now here’s the
question.

If you roll the die 20 times in a row, and the die lands on the number 3, what
are the odds that the next time you roll the die it will land on the number 3?
Now don’t rush into it. Think for a moment.

Now most people that I mention this to say one of two things:

The odds are not very likely
OR
The odds are very likely
The reality is that in both cases the odds are the same. They are one in six.

With that said, what’s most interesting about this formula, is the magic number
of 6.

Now, let us contrast rolling dice to increasing interaction. Increasing
interaction brings increased cooperation with others.

From my own observations, and from self research, my theory is that if you can
interact with someone at least six times, then you’ll end up having a 50/50
chance of either building an incredible relationship or not having a
relationship at all.

While I’m open to having a relationship with others, it’s only through mutual
consideration that a relationship is possible. If you consider that the
interaction you had could lead into an incredible relationship with someone then
it is so. It’s that simple.

So what is it I’m saying you ask? I’m saying that if you are interested in
pursuing a relationship with another, make the attempt to interact at least six
times from the time you first meet them.

By doing this, you’re in a position to continue to the lay the foundation toward
building a wonderful relationship with another.

When all is said and done, just being there is never enough. Follow-up,
increased interaction, and a sincere approach to the relationship is a winning
combination.

Stay with the thought that it’s important to interact with people a minimum of 6
times. The premise is that if you can get up to 6 interactions with anyone, it’s
likely that you’ll have a relationship in place that will never end.

Below is a simple formula to help you get to the magic of 6.

How to Interact Six Times

Here’s a simple method to the madness in building six interactions into your
relationships.

You meet someone for the first time.

You send an e-mail stating that you enjoyed the interaction and look forward to
seeing them again in the future. (Do this within 24 hours) The faster the better

If you have something in common, and you think that a project can be initiated
or a partnership can be put in place, suggest that you call them within 72
hours. (The faster the better)

After the call, and if it makes sense, attempt to get together with 7 days. (The
faster the better)

After you’ve been together, thank them for taking the time to meet with you. (Do
this within 24 hours)

Stay in touch.
Remember, everyone wants want they want , and they want it NOW!
