Women on Friday - “Out of the Mouths of Babes!”

Filed under: Many Messages — Linda Fitzgerald @ 12:05 pm

“G’ma, can I come to your house for a while - I’m bored,” Audra said.

It was Thanksgiving afternoon and I was preparing to do a load of laundry then get cleaned up to head for eldest daughter’s in-laws for the traditional holiday feast & family. Laundry of course could wait & cleaning the ‘bod’ for me is not an entire afternoon undertaking.

I preface my remarks by saying that my late husband’s brother-in-law was near death & middle daughter (a nurse) had been summoned to their home… Continue at the STATION.

Women’s Thursday Thoughts - “With the Dawn!”

Filed under: Many Messages — Linda Fitzgerald @ 10:25 am

I don’t mean “dawn” like the sun rising. But “dawn” like a ‘lightbulb’ going off in my head.

Monday afternoon I had my regular quarterly/semi-annual doctor’s checkup. I’ve known my personal physician since he and other Indian docs arrived in our small town in east central Indiana. In fact, we all hung out together (those of us who were part of the hospital community) and became good friends. Connersville is not an open community when it comes to folks that are ‘different’. . . so you can imagin… Continue at the STATION.

Women’s Wednesday Wisdom - “Sorry We Didn’t Make the List!”

Filed under: Many Messages — Linda Fitzgerald @ 5:05 am

“What list”, you might ask. The “50 Top Blogs in Indy” list. We didn’t make it. . . imagine that! Kyle (our social media consult) and Lorraine Ball - local marketing expert, collaborated on a list of what they consider the top 50 in the Indy area. Most of them relate to strictly business, but there’s some that are not totally business. At least not all the time.

Just to be totally transparent. . .I’m not the least offended by not appearing on the list. But it has given me pause for consideratio… Continue at the STATION.

Women’s Tuesday Topics - “Through the Looking Glass!”

Filed under: Many Messages — Linda Fitzgerald @ 8:44 pm

Perhaps a better comparison would be “through the two-way mirror”! Particularly at this time of year when we assess what’s gone before, determine where we go next & look to the future with great expectation.

Planning for a new year - whether it be for business, personal or life-in-general, is always a ‘chore’. Most of us don’t like to look back long enough to assess what went well, what “tanked” and what is worth keeping-but-tweaking for the next 12 months. However, to not do so is sure to… Continue at the STATION.

Women’s Monday Moments - “GOLD in the Mailbox!”

Filed under: Many Messages — Linda Fitzgerald @ 10:07 am

It sat there for better part of 2 days. I went in and out, glancing at the bag in the box without retrieving it until last evening. To my utter amazement, it was the book I’d just ordered from Amazon. The one I’ve heard mentioned dozens of times by prolific bloggers. The one with the unusual title and provocative concept.

“Naked Conversations” is, in my book (excuse the pun). . . pure ‘gold’! Written by Robert Scoble (top-read business blogger) and Shel Israel (technical genuis responsible for… Continue by SIGNING UP at the CONNECTION STATION.

Women on Sunday - “Gratitude is an Attitude!”

Filed under: Many Messages — Linda Fitzgerald @ 11:40 am

Yes, it is. It is an attitude that we can cultivate so that it grows into a way of life. . . regardless of our circumstances. Some folks find it easier to do than others. Most likely that has to do with a person’s temperment than anything else.

“Attitude” requires more than just ‘practice’ or ‘habit’. It demands a mental shift and change of perspective. It also requires that we begin to look at things as all being under DAD’s charge & that nothing happens without His consent. . . even things… SIGN ON to Continue at the CONNECTION STATION.

Weekend Wisdom - “The Love of Music!”

Filed under: Many Messages — Linda Fitzgerald @ 11:36 am

It’s cold in east central Indiana today! Imagine, in the teens & way too early. I don’t want to go outside, even to retrieve the mail. I ought to go to the bank & grocery store, but brrrrrr!

What I’ve been doing instead, actually since last evening, is listening to music. Russell’s (Watson) music of course. Listening & working while allowing my spirit to soar to the heights with every high “C” he hits so perfectly. Lest you think it’s because I just needed my “Russell (Watson) fix” for the day. . . t… Continue at the CONNECTION STATION.  Sign on & get connected with the web’s most awesome community of ‘chronologically maturing women traveling the 2nd half of the journey’.

Women’s Thursday Thoughts - “Cyberbullying!”

Filed under: Many Messages — Linda Fitzgerald @ 5:46 pm

Today’s AOL headline news on the homepage is the story of a Missouri (think it’s Missouri) woman who is on trial for “cyberbullying”. She and 2 others, including her daughter, engaged in a cruel hoax that led to the suicide of a 13 year-old girl.

Although the woman is not on trial for the death, she is being charged with some as yet unused laws on the books relative to use of the internet and in violation of My Space policies, etc. You can read the article at the following link:… Continue for a discussion at the STATION, of an every increasing trend in society, culture and cyberspace.

Women’s Wednesday Wisdom - “Too Long - Too Much - So What!”

Filed under: Many Messages — Linda Fitzgerald @ 9:38 am

Women’s Wednesday Wisdom - “Too Long - Too Much - So What!”

My blog posts are too long! Who says so? All the experts - Godin, Kawaski, heck probably even Lacy & Decker.

I say “so what”! Just because they don’t have as much to say doesn’t make them right & me wrong. Of course, if my posts are sooooo long no one reads to the finish. . . well that’s another story.

I admit to being exceedingly verbose and write from the same natural inclination as I speak. I have another ‘confession’ to make as well. I’ve always been one to “test” the experts. Okay… Continue at the CONNECTION STATION.

Women’s Tuesday Topics - “Business n’ Leadership!”

Filed under: Many Messages — Linda Fitzgerald @ 6:16 pm

When we think of leadership, what comes to mind? Perhaps the more pertinent question is “who” comes to mind? What qualities does the person have that you consider leadership qualities?

We know that leaders are “made” - not necessarily “born”. Certainly good leaders have native skills and abilities that need to be educated and ‘honed’. They also need to mature into an attitude of “what’s best for those I’m leading”. Among the good leadership skills I recognize are great communication skills, a… Continue at the CONNECTION STATION.
