It’s been a rather ‘heavy’ week! ‘Heavy’ because we approach the most important election of this millennium, IMHO. It being Friday, perhaps we need “a lighter note!” That will not be easy for me to do since this a.m. I will be in our local courthouse to show my support for the family of a seriously mentally ill man who killed 3 people in the house next door to us. Yes, on December 18, 2005, Jason responded to the voices in his head & took the lives of Judy, his beloved aunt, Bill, an uncle b… Continue.

That’s a strange title for a thursday thoughts post!
But it’s what occurred to me last evening as I drove home from our very successful launch of the Indy north side f2f network of AWItm. It comes because there is something in the model (we call it “ConnectWorking”) that “sticks like glue”. We’ve talked about it - named it (”Glue”), but don’t know exactly what it is. Not knowing keeps us on our toes so to speak.
However, I’m going to take a ’stab’ at it. Could it be that developing a model tha… Continue at the STATION.

Yesterday, I spent considerable time responding to posts on another social networking site that was recommended by our social media ‘guru’. A flurry of announcements flooded my inbox letting me know that someone had responded to. . . . Finally I walked away - for a number of reasons.
Over the evening and since arising this a.m., I’ve thought about that site; the others that I’m supposed to be frequenting - and ours! And it occurs to me that we may be “daring to be different!” At least the women… Continue at the STATION.

Language and it’s use fascinates me! I love puns, plays-on-words, figures of speech, etc. I despise radio & TV commercials, but do enjoy the ones where the marketing/advertising folks have done something awesome with the language that causes me to pause & then “get it!”
Over the weekend, the phrase “passing the buck” crossed my mind. But with an entirely different meaning than we usually think of. I had been mentally working on next year’s goals, objectives & strategies with regard… Continue at the CONNECTION STATION.

While musing this morning well before dawn, it occurred to me that the first role we play when doing business of any kind is “the sales job!” Although many of us don’t like “sales” because - well for any reason. My reason, btw is because I always identify it with the “used car salesman” approach.
But when we think of how networking, as a means to an end which is to grow a business of any kind - it occurs to me that the first step in the process is a “transaction”. Oh yes, you’ve heard me say… Continue at the STATION!

I want to pursue the same line of thought that I began yesterday & speak a little about what, if any, difference there is between ‘friendship’ and ‘relationship’.
It never occurred to me before now that there might be a slight difference. Slight difference with big implications! I find myself using the term ‘relationship’ much more often now than the word ‘friendship’. I suppose it’s that shift for me that brought up the subtle difference.
‘Friendship’ is simply that. Two or more folks who… Continue at the STATION.

Yesterday, I spent time with friends! We met for a specific purpose - the Indy Greenwood South AWI network monthly meeting. There were a number of us and energy was high as women new to AWI joined us, etc. But that’s not the point of this post, nor is it the importance of why we were gathered! At least not totally for me & hopefully not so for the others.
The ‘prologue’ to this post began several months ago when I attended another networking organization’s large monthly gathering. The shor… Continue. “SIGN UP” at the CONNECTION STATION to read the rest of the story!

Oh, God bless our flesh!
What I mean is our humanity. Our ability as humans to put feet in mouth & make the kind of misjudgments or mistakes that cost us in terms of relationships. We are soooo good at it that it has brought about something so simple as a slight pain in the abdomen to major world wars.
And it’s less about “the what” than it is about “the how”. It’s usually not “what” brings it about as it is “how” we choose to deal with the “what”. And no one is better at it than me. I… Continue

Somewhere in between the right and the left side of life (whatever that means) is the true path. I guess what I’m trying to say is that somewhere in between life’s extremes is the true path. I’m not talking about “wishy-washy” or “lukewarm”, but down the middle between too open & totally closed! I’m out and about often and meet folks of both genders who are traveling down one extreme or the other. . . or on the edge of one or the other. When I do, I come away with pain in my heart. I shake… Continue

Each a.m. I do the “coffee & He” time! Once downstairs, I grind the beans from “The Fine Grind”, load the pot, pour my first cup of ‘java’ & listen. Yes, I wait & listen. Who am I listening to? I’m listening to my PAPA give me wisdom for the day, advice on the direction we must head & creative thoughts & ideas. I call it my “musing time”. I listen & sometimes I ask. . . mostly I just wait to hear. What I heard the other day was the phrase I used in the title of this post… Continue
