A Woman’s Saturday Subjects - “A Smile, a Tear & and a Laugh Out Loud!”
Just when I thought I didn’t have anything to put here today, along comes two great pieces from AWP member, Anita. The first one tugs at your heart with a smile & a tear because of it’s poignancy and metaphorical spendor.
The 2nd one is a ‘hoot!” Just what a tired woman from the heartland needed on a dreary day in Indiana.
Enjoy them both & do read through to the end because I have something pretty amazing to share!
“The Concert
When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered that her child was missing
Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused on the impressive Steinway on stage. To her horror, the mother saw her little boy sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out ’Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.’
At that moment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy’s ear,
‘Don’t quit . . .. Keep playing.’
Then, leaning over , Paderewski reached down with his left hand and began filling in a bass part. Soon his right arm reached around to the other side of the child, and he added a running obbligato.
Together, the old master and the young novice transformed what could have been a frightening situation into a wonderfully creative experience. The audience was so mesmerized that they couldn’t recall what else the great master played.
Only the classic,’ Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.’
Perhaps that’s the way it is with God.
What we can accomplish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren’t always graceful flowing music. However, with the Hand of the Master, our life’s work can truly be beautiful.
The next time you set out to accomplish great feats, listen carefully. You may hear the voice of the Master, whispering in your ear,
‘Don’t quit . . . Keep playing.’
May you feel His arms around you and know that His hands are there, helping you turn your feeble attempts into true masterpieces.
Remember, God doesn’t Call the equipped, rather, He equips the ‘called.’
Life is more accurately measured by the lives you touch than by the things you acquire. So touch someone by passing this little message along. May God bless you and be with You always!
And remember, ‘Don’t quit . . .. Keep playing.”
AWESOME REMINDER TO US, don’t you think?
Now for the chuckle!
“Billy Graham was returning to Charlotte after a speaking engagement and when his plane arrived there was a limousine there to transport him to his home. As he prepared to get into the limo, he stopped
and spoke to the driver.
‘You know’ he said, ‘I am 87 years old and I have never driven a limousine. Would you mind if I drove it for a while?’
The driver said, ‘No problem. Have at it.’ Billy gets into the driver’s seat and they head off down the highway.
A short distance away sat a rookie State Trooper operating his first speed trap. The long black limo went by him doing 70 in a 55 mph zone.
The trooper pulled out and easily caught the limo and he got out of his patrol car to begin the procedure.
The young trooper walked up to the driver’s door
and when the glass was rolled down, he was surprised to see who was driving.
He immediately excused himself and went back to his car and called his supervisor.
He told the supervisor, “I know we are supposed to enforce the law…. But I also know that important people are given certain courtesies. I need to know what I should do because I have stopped a very important person.’
The supervisor asked, “Is it the governor?”
The young trooper said, ‘No, he’s more important than that.’
The supervisor said, ‘Oh, so it’s the president.’ The young trooper said, ‘No, he’s even more important than that.’
The supervisor finally asked, ‘Well then, who is it?’
The young trooper said, “I think it’s Jesus,
because he’s got Billy Graham for a chauffeur!’
Smile - God loves you! I ask the Lord to bless you, as I pray for you today; to guide you and protect you, as you go along your way God’s love is always with you, God’s promises are true. And when you give God all your cares, you know God will see you through!
That one should give a hearty laugh to your day!
BTW - some of you may remember last week’s blog post entitled “Oh, I’m In Love Again!” It was about my love affair with “The Voice” - Russell Watson. While checking out the status of the Watson UK concerts this summer, I stumbled upon the “forum”. After perusing it for a while, I happened on a page that looked rather interesting. About a 1/3rd of the way down the page, my eye caught a title that looked vaguely familiar. There it was! “Oh, I’m In Love Again”. It had made it’s way all the way across the pond to land in the Russell Watson official forum and the link was posted on yesterday’s thread. Isn’t that utterly amazing!
That explains all the traffic on the site yesterday. I bet when I check the analytics, I’ll find a slew ‘a folks from the UK. Just in case, I’ll say hello to all of you Watson fans from one here in the ‘colonies!’
Have an awesome day with considerable blessings & many significant chuckles to lighten your day!
